At Luxtra Japan, we provide opportunities to experience the authentic daily life of people living in Kyoto, offering experiences beyond the typical tourist attractions. With our Home Visit program, you can visit a real Kyoto residence and participate in a hands-on cooking experience in a genuine Kyoto household. In the Kyoto Machiya Visit, you’ll have the chance to engage in a cooking experience, sake tasting, and matcha tea ceremony in a Kyoto machiya (traditional townhouse) that boasts a history spanning over a century. Both of these programs can be combined with a tour of Nishiki Market, known as the “Kitchen of Kyoto.”
Our cooking experiences include a variety of options such as ‘Maki Sushi,’ ‘Nigiri Sushi,’ ‘Tempura,’ ‘Obanzai’ (Kyoto home-style dishes), ‘Teriyaki Chicken,’ and even ‘Takoyaki’ (octopus balls). We also offer a premium course that combines sushi and tempura. These sessions are led by Japanese instructors who reside in Kyoto, offering you a genuine opportunity to learn authentic Japanese home-cooked dishes.
